Weekend Visitors

Sarah was thrilled to get to know Uncle Chris and Auntie Laura who came for a visit from Philadelphia this weekend.

'Round the House

Sarah's getting used to her new home and routine, including bath time, practicing her wedding dance with Dad and riding around on big sister, Lucy. Lucy didn't seem to think it was as funny as we did.

Weekend Fun

Grandpa Brian came to Maine for the weekend to meet his new granddaughter. We went on a couple day trips and Sarah slept through every minute of them.

First Family Walk

After some serious cabin fever, we took a short but wonderful stroll on the Eastern Prom. Sarah slept the whole time. She had to rest up so that she could cry all night.

The Meeting of the Santinas

Grandma Santina and Sarah Santina finally met this weekend. Mom and Dad are thrilled for the extra hands because this no sleep thing is really starting to lose its novelty.

Meeting New Friends

Going home gave us a chance to introduce Sarah to her big sister, "Lucy," who sniffed her from  head to toe before confirming that she really likes Sarah, even though she is very noisy at night.

Sarah also met friends Anne and Dan Holland and their son, Nathaniel "Nat"... her first gentleman caller! Thanks for bringing those killer enchiladas over Anne and Dan. Our first dinner home was delicious!!!

There's No Place Like Home

We finally said our goodbyes, finished our paperwork, and packed everything up, including Sarah in her schnazzy new car seat (thanks Bob!) and made our way home.

Wrapping Up Our Hospital Stay

After catching a couple more days of healing and a few much-needed extra winks at the hospital, we started packing up and getting ready to make our way home.

Sunday Visitors

Everything felt easier today. Lynn's recovering and feeling more like herself (losing the IV and getting a shower helped). Sarah is figuring out how to eat and she's sleeping soundly between meals.

We even managed to get past the basics - friends Lisa and Scott, and Jane and Matthew spent some time visiting. So maybe it is possible to be new parents and still have a life...

Sarah's View

Portland isn't much for sky scrapers, so we're savoring the view from Maine Med's hilltop fourth floor window - a rare opportunity to look out onto East End rooftops and the mountains and coves beyond.

Crank The Jams!

Wow - I'm only 20-hours old and already I can hear better than dad. I aced my hearing test.

First Photo Shoot

Sarah's Start

Sarah spent her first minutes the way new born babies typically do - getting prodded, poked, tested and cleaned up. Rather unusually, though, thanks to the miracle of modern technology, far away family had a front row seat through their video phones.

Three Six Nine

After twenty six hours of labor and twenty six minutes of surgery at Maine Medical Center, Sarah Santina Weisz arrived at 10:19 pm on Friday, March 6, 2009 weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces and measuring 20 inches. It was love at first sight.

Journey To Sarah

What's this guy have to smile about? Certainly not the outfit or the concerned look on his wife's face, but after many hours of epidural-less labor for his wife (a girl who's birth plan merely read "DRUGS!!!"), and an endless timeline, at least a Caesarean Section means he'll meet his little girl in about fifteen minutes.

The Waiting Game

Things picked up a little speed at about 9pm when the night's resident began the flow of labor-inducing Petocin. Lynn slept on and off throughout the night with contractions running about two minutes apart.

Today's the Day!

Not to set ourselves up, but we're hopeful to see little Miss Sarah Santina Weisz emerge soon.

We checked into the hospital at about 6pm and settled into our room. At first it was anticlimactic since they hadn't started the induction process yet. We settled into our room, unpacked our bags and waited... No drama, no commotion, no baby.
